Projects and workspaces
Workspaces
Section titled “Workspaces”A workspace is the top level container for everything you see on the dashboard. Every account has a Personal workspace, and you can create Organisation workspaces to collaborate with a team.
- Switch workspaces with the workspace switcher at the top of the sidebar. Your last choice is remembered.
- Create one with New Workspace in the switcher. Organisation workspaces are for teams and have members with roles.
- Organisation workspaces have a Manage Workspace entry in the switcher that opens workspace settings with Members, Branding, Usage, and, for the owner, Delete workspace.
- Workspace member roles are Owner, Admin, Member, and Viewer. Viewers are read only across the workspace: they cannot create projects or documents.
- Deleting a workspace is a soft delete: the owner can recover it for 30 days through Recently deleted in the workspace switcher. After 30 days it is permanently removed.
Workspace membership is separate from project collaboration. You can invite someone to a single project without adding them to your workspace. See Collaboration and permissions.
Documents and projects: the two dashboard zones
Section titled “Documents and projects: the two dashboard zones”The dashboard has two zones:
- Documents: standalone documents that belong to you in the current workspace and are not attached to a project. Use them for early ideas, boards, and notes.
- Projects: real productions. Each project has its own pages for script, shot list, schedule, callsheets, documents, gear, and people.
A document moves from the Documents zone into a project only through the explicit Turn into Project action on its card (the Start Production dialog). Documents are never converted implicitly.
Anatomy of a project
Section titled “Anatomy of a project”Every project has these pages, listed in the sidebar:
| Page | What it holds |
|---|---|
| Project Overview | A customizable widget dashboard for the production |
| Script | The screenplay editor |
| Documents | Project documents: whiteboards, diagrams, beat boards, slides, text documents |
| Shot List | Scenes and shots with production details |
| Cast and Crew | People on the production |
| Gear | Equipment list |
| Schedule | Shoot days and the stripboard |
| Callsheets | Daily callsheets, publishing, and delivery tracking |
| Project Settings | Name, cover, type, stage, currency, dates, time display, and more |
Project lifecycle
Section titled “Project lifecycle”- Create a project with the Initialize Project wizard, by converting documents (Turn into Project), or by dropping a brief on the New Project card.
- Status is derived from the Project Stage you set: Production shows as Production, Post-Production and Distribution show as Post-Prod, everything else shows as Pre-Prod. There is no separate status picker.
- Star projects to pin them to the Starred view.
- Archive removes the project from the active list and removes all collaborators (their seats are freed). You can restore it later from the Archived view, but collaborators must be re-invited.
- Delete permanently is available only on archived projects, requires typing the project title to confirm, and cannot be undone.
Covers
Section titled “Covers”Project cards show a cover image. Upload your own via the card menu (Add cover, Replace cover, Remove cover). Projects without a custom cover get a default texture from a built-in set.
