Scenes, shots, and versions
Scenes
Section titled “Scenes”Scenes exist on the Shot List page. Each scene has a name, a Setting (INT, EXT, or INT/EXT), a Time of day (Day, Night, Dusk, Dawn, Golden hour, Blue hour), a Page count in script eighths, an optional Story day, and an optional location with address.
Scene numbers follow one rule: a scene that is linked to a script scene shows that script scene’s number; an unlinked scene shows its position in the list (1, 2, 3, and so on). Scene numbers appear as Sc 1, Sc 2, and so on.
The Script page has its own scene headings. When you generate scenes from the script (via From Script in the shot creation dialog), CineFlow creates shot list scenes linked to the script’s scene headings.
Shots live inside scenes on the Shot List. Each shot carries production fields such as Status, Description, Type, Angle, Move, Cast, Duration, Camera, Lens, Frame Rate, Aspect Ratio, Sound, VFX, Notes, and a storyboard Image. Most descriptive fields are free text with suggestions, so you are never locked to a fixed list.
Shot numbering
Section titled “Shot numbering”Shot IDs are generated automatically per scene. The project has one Shot ID Style, set from the Shot List’s Display popover:
- USA: scene number plus letter, for example 1A, 1B, 2A (the default)
- Europe: scene.shot, for example 1.1, 1.2, 2.1
- UK: one global sequence, for example 1, 2, 3
Changing the style renumbers automatically generated IDs and keeps IDs you typed by hand. Clean IDs in the Display popover renormalizes every shot number to the current style. Moving a shot into another scene always gives it a fresh number in the destination scene.
Versions
Section titled “Versions”Several surfaces keep versions, each with its own model:
- Shot list versions: snapshots of all scenes and shots. Save one from Display then Versions with Save current version; restore any non-active version with Restore. See the Shot List guide.
- Script versions: saved in the Drafts tab of the script’s Contents drawer with Save version. Large edits also auto-save versions. Restoring takes a safety snapshot first. See the Script guide.
- Callsheet versions: created by publishing. Publish freezes the callsheet, including its derived cast and crew roster and schedule, into a version that share links and emails deliver. Editing continues freely afterward; Publish update creates the next version. See the Callsheets guide.
- Share link snapshots: public share links for the shot list, script, gear, and schedule serve a frozen snapshot from the moment they were created or last updated, not a live view. Use Update link to latest to push the current state. See Sharing and permissions.
