Projects: create, overview, and settings

Entry points: the New Project button in the dashboard top bar, the dashed New Project card in the Projects grid, or the sidebar plus button when set to New Project.

The Initialize Project wizard has three steps:

  1. Project Name (required), Project Type (Short Film, Feature Film, Documentary, Commercial, Music Video, Series / Episodic, or Custom…), Project Stage (Development, Pre-Production, Production, Post-Production, Distribution, or Custom…), and Default Currency.
  2. Shoot Dates (a date range), Director, Director of Photography, and Aspect Ratio (2.39:1, 1.85:1, 16:9, 4:3, 1:1, 9:16, or Custom…). All optional.
  3. A Digital Spec Sheet review. Click Create Project.

You land on the Project Overview. The project’s status pill is derived from the stage you chose (see Projects and workspaces).

If your plan’s project limit is reached, the wizard does not open; an upgrade dialog appears instead. See Billing and usage.

The overview at the project root is a widget dashboard. New projects start with a default layout.

  • Manage project (top right) opens the Shares dashboard for links, exports, documents, and activity. See Sharing and permissions.
  • Customize (top right) enters edit mode: drag widgets to rearrange, resize them, add widgets from the dock (with search and preset layouts), and remove ones you do not need. Click Done to save.

Widgets cover production status (for example Shot Completion Ring, Production Countdown, Scene Readiness Matrix, Crew Confirmation, Coverage Tracker), operations (Pending Crew Actions, Missing Equipment, Incomplete Script Tags, Tasks), planning instruments (Production Calendar, Timeline Strip, Shooting Order Grid, Gear Case Overview, Camera + Lens Pairing, Gear Intelligence, Power Draw), insights (Scene Velocity), reference (Key Contacts, Location Block, Script Snapshot), and focus views (Full Scene Breakdown, Call Sheet Live View, Script Page Mode). Each widget shows a helpful empty state until its data exists.

Open Project Settings from the bottom of the project sidebar. The dialog contains:

  • Cover Image with a Change Cover upload (applied immediately).
  • Project Name (required), Project Type, Project Stage, Default Currency.
  • Time Display: Follow each member’s preference (default), 12-hour for everyone, or 24-hour for everyone. This forces one clock format on callsheets, the schedule, and exported PDFs for every member of the production. See Set the time format.
  • Shoot Dates, Director, Director of Photography, Aspect Ratio.
  • Collaborators who are not the owner see Leave this project with a Leave project button.

Click Save Changes to apply. The status pill updates automatically when you change the stage.

Note: the shot numbering style is set on the Shot List page (Display then Shot ID Style), not in Project Settings. There is no duplicate project action.

These live on the dashboard project card menu. See the Dashboard guide for the exact flows, including the type-to-confirm permanent delete.

Inside a project, the top bar shows the team as stacked avatars with online status dots. Click the stack to manage collaborators; project admins also see a plus button to invite. See Invite a collaborator.
